Kavita has taught yoga now for 18 years and thanks her teachers for their guidance and wisdom. Immersing herself in dance as a young adult Kavita was introduced to yoga when her teacher began class with an asana inspired warm up. It felt like a breakthrough. From a short asana practice, Kavita felt her feet more connected to her head, stronger and more able to dance a combination. In addition after class her voice was more open and free. For Kavita the union of movement and voice, breathe and intention became inextricably linked and to this day continue to compliment and encourage one another.
From Los Angeles Kavita moved to New York where she immersed herself in yogic teachings and became a teacher herself. Through this time Kavita was introduced to Kirtan as well as Indian Classical music which became her deep passions.
Now living in Portland, OR with her son, Kavita teaches individual and group classes in person, via Skype & at festivals and gatherings. Her current musical offering "Open Heart Kirtan" is a blend of traditional chants presented with a mix of western and Indian musical influences.
