Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival #60 on September 17, 2016 in Mill Valley, CA : Celebrate 60 years of art under the redwoods at Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival Sept. 17 and 18 from 10am-5pm in Old Mill Park, 325 Throckmorton Ave. M ill Valley. There will be 130 fine artists from all over the country in all media, live music and children's entertainment each day. The beginning of the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival was the first Mill Valley Harvest Festival held in 1957. It was an ambitious nine-day community celebration from October 25th to Nov. 2nd and was held in Lytton Square, as well as a small section of Locust Avenue. It was sponsored by MV Junior Chamber of Commerce and Mill Valley Merchants.
In 1959 the festival was renamed “The Third Annual Fall Festival”, a three-day community event and different dates that were shifted to September. In 1962 the Festival was incorporated under its current name “Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival” as a non-profit service Organization. The new Organization's goal was to provide a venue that will support Art in the Mill Valley community. The Festival moved to its current location in Old Mill Park. The Festival continues to be a source of pride and inspiration for the Mill Valley Community while still promoting the Arts sixty years since it's inception.
To help celebrate this landmark anniversary renowned print maker and Marin resident Tom Killion created a new work of art that is featured on the event poster. Tom began his artistic career at the festival when he presented his prints for the first time at age 16. ...read more
